Indore is known much for its tradition, culture & historical monuments. Indore was the stronghold of the Holkar dynasty who fought against the British in the Anglo Maratha War. Indore was taken into the Indian dominion in 1947 after Independence. The monuments & the museum are the live proof of rich sense of art & tradition of the Holkar Dynasty.
Rajwada:
The Rajwada Palace is located in the old part of the city near the Khajuri Bazaar. It is a Seven Storied mansion & a much visited tourist place. Age old furniture, four poster beds, and chandeliers, was placed in the whole of the palace, which are still there. It was built for Temporary stay of the holkar family.
However most of it were burned in the conflagration of 1984. The upper floors are Made of wood while the lower three of stones. This palace has beared Fire for about three times in last 2 centuries since it's been built.
